    I need a Ford man ;-)

You sure this truck is shifting to 3rd gear? optional/standard gear ratios in 1986 with a 6.9 were 3:54 and 4:10 ratio if I remember correctly.I just sold an 86 F350 4x4 with auto. trans and 4:10's and it went down the road great.

    I need a Ford man ;-)

There should be a tag on the differential housing cover. Should contain the gear ratio, such as: 4:10,3:73, etc. Sounds like you've got some seriously low gears.

    atv winch

I Couldn't say anything about Ramsey ATV Winches, cause I dont own one, but as far as HD Winches go, there have probably been more Ramsey's sold as far as PTO and Hydraulic Winches go than just about any other brand. I wonder if Bradens are still made?

    86' 6.9 Wont Start

Thanks CF. I talked to my Cousin I bought the truck from and go figger, it'd never given him any trouble. Whatever it is, started after I drove 3 miles from his place to mine, parked it for the night, and tried to start it up to haul some fire wood in. I'll try what you suggested and let you...

    86' 6.9 Wont Start

Bought a pretty clean 1986 F-350 4x4 the other day,for another Farm truck, ran fine on the way back home, but tried to start it the next day and failed. It's got a 6.9 Diesel. Glow plugs are cycling fine, fuel is at filter... this one has me stumped. Any suggestions?

o.k. i'm lazy, but I need to know Ford diesel 7.3

Cypress, Sounds like you may need to check the CCA's (Cold Cranking Amps) your batteries are equipped with. I run 950's in my Dodge, and never have any cranking problems, and rarely have ever plugged in the block heater.
