    red simmis

I agree with Jeanne ... the Dream On offspring are reliable and highly desired. We are currently birthing a few Dream On calves and really like them. Just had an awesome 75 lb solid red (with a small blaze on his face) purebred bull calf over the weekend. On the fleck side, we have used BHR...

    Simmental/Fleck Fay ?

Jeanne, You would think SimAngus 23 has some economic interest in trashing fleck cattle. His opinions are outdated, with bad facts, and with some apparent malicious intent to do harm to part of the breed that he lays his name to. Why someone called SimAngus would trash Sim cattle on a global...

Which Red Angus and Red Simmental bulls to use?

I guess that's the good thing about America and the cattle business ... everybody's entitled to their opinion. If you're going to throw around stats ... you oughta get them right.

Which Red Angus and Red Simmental bulls to use?

SimAngus ... I think your fleck stats are outdated ... I too am a SimAngus breeder but I successfully use fleck genetics and have zero calving problems, 72 lb calves, balanced strong EPD's, IMF scores of 3.5, reasonable frame scores, and adult females weighing 1100-1250 lbs. There are...

Which Red Angus and Red Simmental bulls to use?

SimAngus 23 ... why your comment to stay away from fleck simmis?

Which Red Angus and Red Simmental bulls to use?

I have used BHR Three Sixes (full fleck full blood from Buzzard Hollow Ranch, Granbury TX) successfully in my breeding program. Here's a pic of one of the results:

    problems stretching fence

I agree with cfpinz .... we use 2 2x6's and bolt them together on both sides of the fence ... then use a come-along and tractor to pull it tight. The wood is soft enough to allow the bigger wires to mash into it and still grab the smaller wires. Have to change the 2 wood pieces after a few...

Thanks Triple B .... good luck in your decisions. rv

    Question about simmentals

We have a small herd of 35 simmentals and sim-angus cattle ... very easy handling, great disposition, we work them with just myself and my wife. Highly recommend them for disposition. As for the calving problems, we've had none ... unassisted .... I know folks had problems in times past, but...

1st calf of the season (pic)

About 20 more .... all SimAngus or Simmental. Most from BHR genetics ... have 5 expected from CNS Dream On.

1st calf of the season (pic)

Alacowman, Agree with your comment on Buzzard Hollow ... we've gotten most of our genetics from them.

1st calf of the season (pic)

Cowcop, Haven't decided yet ... got several more to be born over the next few weeks. We're going to try to get noticed in 2008 (you saw my other post) and do a field day in April. We'll sell some of the best at good values in order to get our market started.

Having a field day in April - need ideas

Thanks for the good ideas ... extremely helpful. Cowcop .... here's a couple of pics I posted in the past. The calf was born a couple weeks ago (3/4 Sim/Red Angus) ... the heifer is half blood, bred and due early 2008.

    Sad bull day update

I hate to hear of your loss ... hope things go well on the rest of your cattle operation.

Having a field day in April - need ideas

We've been building our herd for 3 years now (Simm and Sim-Angus cattle), and plan to do a field day open house to tell folks in our area we are here (and want to sell some cattle). If any of you have done this with success or lessons learned, I'm all ears. Appreciate any thoughts.

1st calf of the season (pic)

The sire is from Buzzard Hollow Ranch in Granbury TX .... BHR Three Sixes. I'll have to get my records out tonight to see the Dam side (RA).

90HP Tractor - Kubota vs John Deere

I sure appreciate all you folks' comments. I'll let you know what gets bought in March or April.

Pic of old cow. What does she tell you?

I also have a couple of SimX mamas that tend to look that way while raising the calf ... both have produced great calves with their work clothes on.

    Leasing Bulls

I paid $700 and used him for three months ... then I bought him (possession and 50% of semen rights). A very good bull.
