    Redneck's Guide to Hay Testing

Still would like to know how you reached this conclusion........... :?:

    Hay Quality

What kind of hay is that for $120.00 per ton? There are some good buys out there. Somebody could clean up this winter with a deal like this: http://www.bid4hay.com/aff.php?aff=776 The small square bales would bring almost enough to pay for the whole lot..... $55.00 per ton........

    shame on you

VZCR, that was a great deal on the hay. We have a lot of cheap hay this way as well. A relative of ours just sold several round bales of Coastal at $30 each. I think the original poster of this thread was hoping to make a fair deal close to her place to avoid shipping costs. At these low...

    Hay Quality

I have to chime in on this as a hay producer. We put fertilizer out in small doses, instead of hitting it with 400-500 lbs. per acre and then the rain washing it all away. The smaller doses at 2 week intervals keeps the hay fertilized and eliviates the "drenching rains washing all the nutrients...

    shame on you

Earl, We've had lots of rain that's for sure, but good drainage and a hayfield on a little higher ground don't fall victim to flooding. I got caught back in May with hay on the ground and then the rains came. Many days straight with no drying. I ended up burning that hay. The first time I ever...

    Redneck's Guide to Hay Testing

Nope we sell any grade of hay. Matter of fact I have sent some out thataway, and the folks appriciate it very much. I just see a lot of hype about hay from Texas being so drenched out of nutrients by all the rain we've had, I'm going to rebuke that every chance I get. I agree that hay that can't...

    Redneck's Guide to Hay Testing

Quote: If the grass has turned to a greenish color like above, you are looking at something worthy of consideration. If not, thump your cigarette butt over in the hay storage area and drive off cause the hay ain't worth the money. I'm wondering if when this test is complete, and you have some...

    shame on you

Quote: Having gun to your head by some guy stashing away hay for to make a killing later is not for me How much $$ is hay worth at today's prices, by the ton. Here's some already baled and ready to feed. Nobody holding back here.......... http://www.bid4hay.com/aff.php?aff=776

    Truck electrical

I sure don't know if it would or not.....I backed into my hot fence one time and it killed my truck. I mean the engine died. After I got the wire and truck seperated, all was well again. But I think some well placed rifle or shotqun shots would do the trick........... :D

    Sale Barn Full

Prolly some of my ole cows in there. They went when we got into the "exceptional drought" conditions last 2 years ago. I guess we trade them back and forth depending on the range conditions..........

    best tractor for the money

I hope you find what the problem is, because I have a 2775 that does the same thing. It is plumbed to the filter housing also. The tilt on the bucket is very jerky when you try to tilt it down very slowly. (Dump). The lift on the loader creeps up while you're running a mower or baler.(High RPM)...

Guess I need to modify my trailer a bit. I can haul hay out there, and bring cows back on the backhaul.......

    alternator

That usually is wired to the switch to provide the field with 12v to activate the alternator. It must be on a switch or the battery will go dead if the field is left energized with the engine not running.......This is known as a 2 wire alternator. The voltage regulator is inside the alternator...

Hay buying approach for the small farm

Wish I could find someone to buy all I could make..........I don't have any cows to feed anymore, so I don't need any hay, but I'm still baling. Probably will have 200-300 rolls this year. I could let them go for near cost just to get them gone........

    Baler Fires

I think the best stratagy is have plenty of fire extinguisher resources available, dump the bale and start hosing everything down. Mine's the same way, takes a long time to disconnect. Its good to have someone helping, but if you're like me, always alone working at baling hay. :(

    Please be aware of this!!

This from Mrs. VZCR.I have a stallion that developed a sarcoid and the Vet wanted to freeze burn it off. It was on his sheath  and I said no way. He said it would get the size of a lemon if we didn't do something about it. I am a believer in hollistic ways to cure but had no idea what to...
