    Pics of your herd bull

Thanks, Purecountry. I agree, he could use a little more rear quarter muscling. I almost didn't post to this thread when I saw the Welsh Black bull from RKeiser. That is quite an animal! I am posting a picture of one of our heifer calves, a daughter of DRC 101VM who is pictured previously. Our...

    Pics of your herd bull

I would like to solicit comments on one of our herd sires. He is a coming 3. (DOB 3/3/05). This photo was taken 10/06/07 . He has a 57 inch Hip Height and weighs 2,100 lbs. He comes from a superior line of females within a very maternal breed. Thanks!

    Getting Birthweights

We bought a small "boom" on sale from Harbor Freight. Mounted the post in the back of the little chore truck. I use a good calf sling hung under a little electronic scale. The boom has both a crank and a small hydraulic jack to lift with. The pickup bed makes a handy platform for the Vet box for...

    Texas Longhorn show animals

I am sure glad to see there are some Longhorn breeders who are still trying to maintain true Texas Longhorn genetics. I had a few cows in the late '70's and early 80's that came off of the Witchita refuge as heifer calves. None had the excessive horn growth so commonly seen today. I have long...

    Swimmin' against the (black) tide.

Ok....lemme have it. I gotta be fairly thick skinned (headed?) to raise a breed that ain't black. I've tried to post pictures of some of my cows lately without success. Now there is a way for folks to see some video of the offspring from some of these females. Go to "www.midlandbulltest.com" and...

    Udders Anyone?

It looks like I'd better go back to the instructions! The picture comes up when I click on the link, but it's not automatically there in the post. :?:

    Udders Anyone?

http://cattletoday.com/photos/data/500/ ... nna_4M.jpg I'm trying to figure out how to post pictures on here so I thought I'd post one of my cows under the "udders anyone" category.

    Shorthorn Calves (pics)

Randiliana, looking at your calves makes me a little nostalgic. I grew up on the "High Line" in Northern Montana. When I was a kid, you saw an awful lot of the red "brockle faces" like a couple of your calves show. They made good mama's and were in it for the long haul!

    Shorthorn Breeders

    M. Sarria- I think you'll do fine with crossing with the Red Angus. The breeds seem very complimentary. You'll get to see the benefits of heterosis first hand!

    Shorthorn Calves (pics)

Nice calves, but I sure hope the 3rd from the last isn't really 100% shorthorn!? Maybe it's just the light.

    Shorthorn Breeders

We raise registered Shorthorns that work for commercial guys. Some go back to asterisk carriers (appendix derived). Once the individual animal no longer carries a asterisk with the American Shorthorn Association, it has attained 131/132nds purity.

Good, Bad or ugly / what breed?

Ollie, He had a 47" hip height at 7 mos. which should put him at a 6+ frame. His dam's a 1400 lb solid red cow with a 55" hip height. She's a '98 model with a nice udder and teats. This calf had a 101 lb BW, 695 205 day (no creep), and 1178 YW. I'll list his EPD's, with the breed averages in...

Good, Bad or ugly / what breed?

My good friend "Coyote" was kind enough to post this picture for me on this forum. I am "computer challenged" when it comes to posting photos and such. Badlands, you are half right. This was taken at Midland a week ago today. My photo skills aren't much better than my computer skills! If the...
