    best dog food for price

I swear by Premium Edge Dog Food. I can buy a bag of that food (I feed the chicken type- it's first ingredient is chicken then chicken meal. and also high in the ingredients is ocean fish meal so that's at least 2 solid meats in the top of the list and 3 if you want to count the chicken that...

    What do you honestly think???

Thanks everyone for your input! I have seen the horse stablelyx at our farm store. I will have to check that out. I hate the fact that he will have to be weaned by himself. None of the heifers are going to be shown so they are in a different lot. He will be by himself and I know they don't do...

    What do you honestly think???

Here is a POSSIBLE steer for next year. Our county fair is in late June. So this is the ONLY homebred steer we have this year (heifers..what can I say???) that would fall into that time frame and possibly work out well. He was born during the blizzard that hit Indiana. Feb. 14 valentines day...

how cold is it in your neck of the woods

It is now -8 with a -24 windchill (i'ts 11 am). Last night we hit -13 I think. With winds of about 20 mph, it's been almost white-out conditions here. Chicken water in our barn (very tight barn) was frozen solid and it has a heat lamp not more that 4 inches above it. It's coolllld for this...

    Goats

It depends on what kind of goats she has. If she has wethers (castrated male goats) than I wouldn't feed ANY grain unless they are still young and need to grow. And if you do feed them grain, make sure it has amonium chloride in it. Goats are very suspectable to UC (unrinary calculi) which is...

    Our New Website

Hi, I just got done with the main things on our website. Sometime this week I will get pictures up of the cows and bulls. Also the heifers and cows that we have for sale, and their bloodlines. Let me know what you think. I am open for suggestions! http://www.freewebs.com/hughesclubcalves

    Can you buy

Thanks for the info! I agree that there is nothing wrong with a cross dairy cow. It can actually help higher the butterfat or increase milk production. Ans I can definately see a angus holstein bull calf going for more money than a pure holstein.

    Can you buy

Yeah, that is what I was thinking too. I would rather have a somewhat smaller breed and holsteins are huge. I like the look of Jerseys and I have heard guernsys are very docile. Guess I have to look around. I don't really know where to start. My family used to run a dairy operation milking...

    Can you buy

Yeah I know about the draft free places and plenty of sunshine and a clean stall. That would all be easy. Definately switching from cow milk straght to goats would be a horrible thing to do. LOL Definately a transtiton period would be needed. The reason I asked about the angus cross was beacuse...

    Can you buy

Thanks for the info. Calf scours are something I "THINK" I can handle. Good greif we had so many problems with coccidia with our goats . (No matter how clean the pens or what prevenative measures we took. It was in the ground.) I am a HUGE fan of vitmin and electrolyte powder, probias, and...

    Can you buy

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back. What normally do dairy heifers run? And what time of the year is best to get one? I am thinking that it would be best if I could get a heifer around May or June cause that is when the most goat milk is available, (that is what I would be feeding.)...

Jersyey or any dairy breed heifer calves at a sale barn? I have been looking around for a dairy heifer calf.

Anybody go to the North American?

Same here kinda. I was there, but I went down to show dairy goats. I did get to watch some of the cattle on the internet though. I did get to watch the National Jersey show. That was great!

    Before & After 2

Isn't it amazing what a little TLC and a shave job can do. I would agree with aplusmnt about her being a little deeper in the flank, but that will come with time. She looks like a REALLY nice sleeper. Just give her a few months and should looks like she will wow.
