AI bulls that are worth trying

VLS, with Right Now having around 200 head of calves being reported this fall I expect his BW EPD to be below 0 or close to it this spring.. Ratio this spring on calves was 89 (1.3 bW EPD) compared to New Standard (-1.4) with a 104 and 22 Duke 9003's (-3.2) ratio of 99... Also you can ask...

AI bulls that are worth trying

We had a good New Standerd Last year in our sale... Soggy and deep... We always laughed that he has such a low bw epd and when you actually have calves they are always above average for Actual Birth Weight.. We like Corona daughters also.. We were lucky enough to get a clean son of him...

1st> Embryo Costs, Embryo's are usually kinda high if you are seeking the best genetics, at public auction I have had embryos sell for as high as $1200 a piece and as an average around $450-500.. I have bought 30+ embryos and have gotten discounts like 300 or 250 a piece but you have to take a...

    3/4 Interest and Full Possession??

Call and talk with the breeder of Heat Wave ... Ask his opinion of the Clones and feelings toward it..

Whats the longest you have used a bull?

Every generation is better then the past. If they are bred right they should be.. Even in closed herds Younger genetics are the best way to improve and further a herd... Just look at the Angus Assocation now you can bred 52 cows in 52 weeks to a possible 52 Trait leaders.. A little extreme...

    Monoply

I was blown away this year when I visited a large club calf ranch in Kansas and they were talking about clipping 60 day old calves before they go to grass... i know the reward is great but the functionality of cattle is as little human interference is possible.. Hair is bred into these cattle...

    3/4 Interest and Full Possession??

Both are correct... One of the big topics now is the right to clone.. If you talk to the breeder of Heat Wave he is furious that he was Cloned so much.. without him getting his interests in the clones.. I have seen the latest club calf "prospects" bulls now being sold with "No Clone Rights"...

    Monoply

Works great as club calf bull only problem is he is so short and small, Works great on larger cattle.. Wish he wasn't so High % angus... Hence reason why he works so well on maines, simi's, and char's... Solid Gold bull at horns has some really good calves this year out of different cows...

Whats the longest you have used a bull?

With the current bull prices how can you keep a bull over 3-4 years and Not Turn over newer bulls and Newer Genetics for 20-35% of the bull. When cull prices are at 90 cents how can you not trade up a bull for $1000 and get a younger bull for another 2 or 3 years plus ...

The problem with OCC bulls for me . . .

First and foremost the frame may allow the cattle to put on more pounds but if they are not more efficient doing it them they are not the best one's... RFI tests show that size has nothing to do with efficieny.. Results from my test.. Bull A: 4.56 ADG 20.1 DMI mades a 5.65 F:G ratio...

The problem with OCC bulls for me . . .

Frame and growth are my two issues.. At mature age, they are fine looking animals, but 85% of my customers sell their calves in the fall or after the first of the year. They like those calves to come off the cows weighting about 650-750 and 850-900 after the first of the year... Also, i...
