I was out taking pics of the heifers on 2/20/07. Notice the lack of snow on the ground. Today there seems to be a bit of a change. :o She's not the only one wondering why we live here. :lol: :lol:

All of our synched AI heifers broke down two gates yesterday afternoon and got out with the bull. They were supposed to be time bred this afternoon. :oops: There goes all the planning, meds, CIDR's and time. Can't say what the hubby called those girls. :shock: Live and learn.

Anyone ever have a blown vaginal wall on a cow or heifer? Had a first calf heifer that we ended up pulling her 110 lb. calf. Right after we pulled him she had a glob of fat that came out after the calf. Couple hours later her cleanings were hanging down but she had a fist sized piece of bumpy...

Has anyone else been having big calves this year? We knew we were in trouble when the first calf out of our bull was sideways and had to be pulled by the vet. 110 lbs worth. Our last four calves have been: 102 lbs. - first calf heifer 117 lbs. - 4th calf cow 119 lbs. 3rd calf cow 115 lbs...

Not to say that you southern people don't have your problems (wild fires, tornados, etc.) but I've been so jealous of all your green pastures. Yesterday this is what I woke up to. Figured around 20" of heavy wet snow. My favorite season, mud, just became more interesting. :lol:

If this has been discussed before please give me the link. I tried doing a search and came up empty. A man who works with my husband approached him about buying some cattle and keeping them at our place or buying some cattle together. Has anyone ever done this? What type of contract/agreement...

Here's one of our mineral feeders we bought at an auction. Each skid on the bottom has a chain so we can hook it up to the tractor and move it around. The inside part is split into two sections. It easily holds 100 lbs. of loose mineral.
