i have a new calf and need help

Kathy, You seem like a sweet person so I just want to warn you. Please don't make a pet out of this calf. It is very tempting and cute when they are babies to "play" with them, but when she gets older this behavior is very dangerous, even if she doesn't intent to hurt you, she can and will. So...

    Missing Calf

I'm sorry about your calf My grandpa once put a deer fawn through a chopper.... tho i don't think they found anything that even remotely looked like a leg. He felt bad for a while too, but it would easy to do when they are hunkered down trying to hide, so don't feel too bad.

    Backgrounding calves on cornstalks

I was trying to research how good it would be to feed cornstalks this winter cuz like everyone else around here i'm short on hay. I stumbled on this article. It's kinda old so some of you have probably read it, but it is a pretty good read and gives really specific numbers, especially on gain...

    Coccidia from chickens??

That's what i thought Lucky, I don't know why my vet would think this, he's pretty young so he has to to be pretty fresh out of school. There are tons of really reputable refrences on the web that pretty much says the opposite of what he told me. When he said people could get coccidia from...

What do you like/dislike about these cows?

Ur probly right :) It was just a thought cuz my dad's herd is also on pasture a large percentage of the time and he regulary gets rewards for his cells counts as well, but he also has good udder maintenance. I didn't know texas had much of a dairy industry, so i'm learning everyday on this site:)
