    The end near ?

Just saying. My mother sells a mexican sauce she makes at farmers market and there are a few ranchers there selling beef and pork and some chicken. They seem happy with the market so it can be done. Using a usda processer one of these families has gotten into several stores and restaurants has a...

    The end near ?

I think the manure runoff is aimed more towards the industrial farms, feed lots, pig and chicken houses. Where its concentrated and collected in run off ponds. I'll be first to admit i always wanted a small scale feeding operation. Then watched "frankensteer" on netflix and started looking into...

    First cattle purchase

Just have the cows wormed. And stockers you should look for a "pre vac" sale. Already been vaccinated. Worm them and turn them out. Check daily for any sign of sickness. That would be best bet.

    First cattle purchase

Preventative. Stressed cattle get sick easier so I want to help combat sickness before it starts. Excede is best I've used for BRD Here is a good post from here on Excede.

    First cattle purchase

On your stockers buy steers if your not comfortable castrating yourself. Some people overlook that. Id give them Nuflor, and Excede. Maybe a flytag. And worm them good.

    how would you....

I think everyone gets burned out, doing what they dont want to be doing. Could be part of my problem. I see people farming every day while running the back roads pulling loads of steel, and im envious, maybe slightly jealous. Cattle and coonhunting are to things i havent been burned out on yet.

    how would you....

Keep them coming folks.. Denver Im with ya there. Time working on a farm was never really "work". If that makes sense. Now driving this rig all over the nation may be easier work that pays better sure isnt where Id rather be. Hard to start from nothing, and to be successful.
