    Cross Fencing a Pond

A few month's back there was a string on ideas for cross fencing a pond and also a picture of someone's fence. I have tried to search for for this but have not been able to find it. It is so dry here that I can wade and do whatever I need right now. Can anyone help me? Thanks,

    gardening

We grow a vegetable garden every year. It burnt up in June this year. Kept the tomatoes watered for a few weeks and then just gave up. I didn't get my fill before it dried up. I ran the brush hog over it this weekend. We also try to keep a landscaped lawn with flower beds and such.

    Calf with tongue out

I've got on like that. I was concerned when he was new born. He is about 4 months old and is doing fine, just sticks out his tongue and lets it hang out about and inch or two. Comical looking. He tickles me every time I see him.

Is anyone else in CO having a rattler problem?

I didn't know we had rattlers in my area until this year. It has been very dry here and all my neighbors seemed to have killed monsters. Knock on wood, I haven't seen any. I've kept me and my cows out of the wooded areas.

    Help with ragweed control

The ragweed in my area is really bad. I had ten acres that the ragweed took over when I moved the cows off and was going to hold them off until this fall but the ragweed was so thick they couldn't get to the grass. I sprayed it this weekend and had swollen eyes and hives by the time I got back...

Prayers are with All that were in Katrina's Path

My God, my God. I have never seen anything like this. I hope the nation comes together like they did on 9/11 and there is an out pouring of love and help for our brothers and sisters on the gulf.

    NEW CALVES

It's a hoot! Like hunting for Easter eggs. You never know what your going to find. I have a BD bull and he has always produced black calves with two Charlaois cows we have. This year we had a what looked like a soot covered grey calf with mascara around the eyes and black ears. Look's odd with...

    Chicken Litter

I remember a few years back hearing an OSU Extension person talk about feeding litter mixed with corn, grain or something. The gist I got from him was that it had very little nutrition value from the litter. It would just be filler mixed with the corn.

    Name that Grass (pics)

Didn't ever know what it was called but I have some. It's not bermuda. I have that too and when I Round Up around the sidewalk to kill the bermuda, this grass will grow back. It does seem to grow where other plants won't. It has a shallow root system but I don't know how you would get rid of it...

    Fertilizing a bass pond

I've been told throwing a little fertilizer in a pond promotes algae growth, that promotes cover and insects and stuff that fish like to eat. Never tried it. I get in too much trouble just trying to fertilize my land.

    Cattle swimming around fence

That is a good idea. I have a fence runnning through a pond , that seperates pastures, and the posts are starting to fall. I still have good wood posts on each side of the pond. I bet I could cable between the two posts and hang some plastic barrels from the cable between as obstacles.

Not enough hours in the day??

I also work a full time job and my wife and I started talking about how we spend our holidays and vacations with the intention of just taking it easy and relaxing around the farm. Of course that never happens. I'll just go out with the idea of checking on something and 8 hours later I'll return...

It has helped in the past so here goes again!!

It's scary here on the N.E. OK /N.W. Ark border where I live. There were some storms that came through a couple ago but they seemed to split about the time they got to my place. The town of Grove, Ok. got 4 inches and I got diddly. Makes it easy to find your calves, doesn't it? Don't have to...

    Government Aid

I have been in an EQUIP program for the past few years and some are good and some are not so good. You have to build everything to their specs. Some time's the cost share is not enough that you can build it cheaper your way without the cost share money and sometimes it works out fine in the...
