Fall Calving has begun

I'm glad the new crop moved up. Couple more years and they'll be into cooler weather. Or hold the bull off and make em fall calvers again!!
I hate calving in this 100 plus degree weather. The flies will really work on a newborn calf. And then there's always that one idiot calf that will lay out in the middle of the pasture in full sun!! Ugh.

Helped B preg check a couple hundred Wagyu cows a few years ago. He told the vet anything calving before June 30 was a spring calf. And after July 1 was a fall calf. I should have asked when the cut off was at the other end.

Agreed. Seems get more sick calves born in the summer, knock on wood. I definitely was not expecting first timers to move up their year. The tigerstrip that calved july 4 and think she may have already bred back. She was showing signs the other day, but no active mounting.

This heifer calved today. A little black bull with not quite as much ear as i would have expected. Not complaining. I think this one is firmly a fall calver heh

Checking this heifer out to see if she has anything too.

Been a couple days and this pasture had a new surprise today:

This cow calved 2 weeks after buying her at the salebarn. Then didnt see her or her calf for nearly 2 weeks.

Red cow calved same day as the previous. Different pasture.

This july 4th calf doing pretty good. And the red brahma heifer is getting closer.

I love your type of cows. We almost never see that type here but the one cow i have with a little ear is probably the best one i own.

I like that 1/2 and 1/4 bloods the best. Im half surprised that part of the country don't have a bit more brahma influence.

A calf with even a touch of ear will get a big discount here. But i sure like them

These two girls calved this passed week and gained another 54 and 52 days in between calves. Fertile for sure. Going to mark them as spring calvers now.
