Fall Calving has begun

I actually only have a handful that will calve this fall. These came slightly early. Vet estimated the tigerstripe to calve about Sep 1st and the RWF Oct 1st. They were preg checked in April. These girls were featured in this thread when i first got them:

Tigerstripe had hers on Sunday and promptly disappeared with her calf until yesterday, Wednesday.

This one came fresh out the oven this afternoon. This heifer is not very tame, surprised I got as close as I did.

This makes 4 out of 4 heifers. These were heifers and a cow from the salebarn. Everything else in the spring.

One of the most gentle cows here. She really doesn't have a flight zone, esp considering i got her from a group that included a couple man eaters.

I thought it would be interesting to round out this thread. I weaned these 4 heifers last month and they sold today at OKC Stockyards. I'm pleased with the number they brought: $1704 each.

those cows and heifers look like they all have really nice udders on them. they should raise some great calves for you.

The first 3 in this thread from last year all calved in July, with their second calves.
The tigerstrip calved a bull on july 4th, gained about 52 days from her last calving date.
The lighter RWF calved a heifer july 20, gained 39 days.
The last rwf calved a bull july 30, gained 32 days.
Not bad breeding back for some first calf heifers. And the blue roan also calved a bull july 20, first calf. Big Daddy's heifer streak is officially done.

Going to have to change the title of your thread to summer calving. . Not my favorite time to calve but I like for them to move up a month ! Think I had 4 in July . We’ve had 30 out of 31 days in the 90’s .

Yes sir , but not dry ! Got several nice rains throughout the month. Including one yesterday. Not like last summer when we burned up and I fed hay in August.

Yes buddy. Have seen quite a bit of 2nd cut left layin after inches and inches of rain. Glad I was beeing a wimp and didn't wanna do hay in the heat. I need to when I get a window. Looking forward to temps in the 80s.

Same and agreed.haha if they keep doing this, theyll be spring calvers before long lol we officially hit 100 for the first time, which is rare this late.

Sorry about that! She's cute, though! She looks like one I called Lola who was my #2 choice for my calf-pick bonus if something happened to Bubby.
