I had two babies born yesterday, outside on pasture. -10 air temp, with a wind. 5 newborns on the ground total so far. (Not that I WANT them born now though... just wasn't smart enough to create a pen so had a place to put the bulls!). Running around with their tails in the air today. I market year round, so spreading them out is OK... but I still don't prefer to have babies this time of year!
 
One time I was on vacation in Wyoming in July. On the top of Bighorn Pass (9,666 ft) there was 2 camp trailers and pickup with Florida plates. Looked like grandma, grandpa, their kids, and grandkids. The kids were playing on an old left over snow drift. The grandpa told me this was the first time his wife had ever seen snow. Looking around at the mountains he said in the winter this whole place is probably covered with snow. I said this is Wyoming, there are times in the winter when the entire state is covered with snow.
The pictures from Gizmom look like a normal January day. I didn't see any reason for extra cloths and nothing that resembled a blizzard.

Low at 11 the high at 38. Lot of snow up on the hills but none in the valley at least until tomorrow night. Supposed to snow Friday evening and snow off and on until about next Wednesday.

We’ve warmed up here too. I think the last of the snow finished melting off when the rain started yesterday morning.
It flooded.

Our ground was saturated from the 14” of snowmelt, then we just got 6.5” of rain in the past 16 hours. Completely filled that dry lake I’ve been posting about, and I have some road work to do.

We’ve had more rain in less time, but not in the dead of winter right after a big snow, while all the vegetation is dormant.

The water level crested just above the top of the culvert pipes. Almost over the dam at the other end.

High water happened while I was at my day job. Easier to appreciate if I’d of had before, during pictures.

Ponds haven’t been this muddy since they were built.

about 4 miles from us just hit 200" but they did have at least 2 lake effect bands that hit them harder than us so I bet we are about the same as you. its going to get above freezing next week so at least the banks will settle some. Getting hard to see around some corners.

Where I lived on the Washington coast it was about 60 inches annually. Just down the road a bit they got 80. I cut timber up on the west side of the Olympics where they got 200 inches a year. You could pretty much count on getting soaked every day.
 
Started snowing when I was feeding this morning. When we got home at 2:00 after church and our weekly grocery shopping it was still snowing. Stopped by 3:00. The house sits at 2,700 feet elevation. I am putting the snow level at 2,750. I couldn't decide which picture to use so I posted both of them.
