What is the last " stunt" one of your cows pulled?

I got one of dad's cows good ole 213 who is NEVER IN! I don't even bother with her any more,I keep hoping she comes up empty so I can ship her but be dammed she won't show up open. Best part is dad kept a heifer out of her, apparently the jumping gene skipped generation because her heifer stays...

    New Calf

That's for sure I could loose track of how many calves we've saved by doing a mid night check. Something to ponder is the time you feed,we feed just before dark because a cow with a full belly is more likely to calves during the day light hours. There is a name for the study on that I'll have...

Day in the life of me (pics)

Not really sure never have paid attention, our place is 10000 acres and we graze about 3800 of it any any given time. Right now we got 120 cows on 1900 acres and getting ready to start our fall gather to bring every thing home before we calves.

    Cattle prod

He was walking up the ramp to shut the doors on the trailer and just as the last cow stepped in the truck driver who's notorious for this nipped the herefy and she blew backwards in to my grandad.

Well the 215 is the biggest we will drive over they will probably hold our D8 but we don't want to sink our cat and re building a bridge. We've had a dump truck loaded with rock over it though

    New Calf

I'll bite, pampered cattle tend to not do so well in tough times, if that cow cannot raise a healthy calf then ship her. Heifer or not if she's not mothering the snot out of that calf and she's wondering off and not sticking around so it can nurse and get milk she should be reevaluated not...

Yesir its a c215 we have another kolbelco excavator that's bigger with a thumb but it likes to run hot so we use it very little. We've been over the last decade been building bridges across all the creek crossings so we can keep trucks n equipment from getting stuck and tearing up the banks.

What is the last " stunt" one of your cows pulled?

I had two pair this fall who spent all summer on the neighbors place, didn't know they were there and he don't mind if a couple pair show up,so trailed them home several times and they kept going back. We'll joke was on them as the bunch of cows they paired up with were all culls. Last trip I...

    New Calf

Ya I seconded that, that calf needs the colostrum in the first 24hrs before the stomach wall hardens up. By milking her out and busting the wax plug you run the risk of loosing that lucky the calf probably got the colostrum from the other tits but still.
