    Finishing steers

Thank you everyone for your replies. At this point I guess my question is what type of ratios would you use with access to ground corn, ground barley, molasses and grape pomace? Would it be beneficial to see if they will do WSC instead of ground?

    Finishing steers

Just updated my profile, I never realized I hadn’t added a location I’m in northern CA. The local guy I found has a small hammer mill and will make me a ground corn/barley ration with whatever percent corn and barley I want and can add molasses and grape pomace to my specs if I want.

    Finishing steers

Thank you, that’s a lot along the lines of what I’ve been thinking my local feed mill is over $800/ton for their steer finisher and $680 for their COB. I got in touch with a local guy that mixes small batches on the side and he has a corn barley and molasses mix or corn/barley/molasses with...

    Finishing steers

This has been asked numerous times but I’m feeding out 2 baldy steers 750lbs +/- and a heifer 675+/- that will be sold as halves/wholes and a half jersey steer 500+/- that will be kept for myself. Processing is scheduled for early December. Any recommendations for a feeding program? They will...

    Pick them apart

These are just two fall bull calves I didn’t get cut. I pulled them out of the pasture last weekend and they will both either be going to the sale or be finished for my freezer. They have never seen any grain and have just been on native pasture with their mothers. The one with the green tag is...

    Fattening a calf for freezer

To make a long story short, the bosses wife wants me to fatten one of their calves, it's been quite a few years since I've fed one up to slaughter. The best option right now is a 400-450lb angus bull calf that's getting weaned in the next week. What kind of a ration would you recommend for...

    JC Martin saddles

Has anyone here had any experiences with jc martin saddle co out of Greenville, TX? Im in the market for another good using saddle, I've seen pictures of a couple made by jc martin that looked pretty nice, but haven't seen any in person. I was hoping someone here would have some input about them...

    Bred heifers

Based on their teeth they're both right around 24 months

    Bred heifers

I have no idea on their ages, they look to be fairly young (coming 2 year olds) I'm going to be running them through the chute once the weather clears and I'll take a look at their teeth.

    Bred heifers

The sale I purchased these girls at hasn't been publishing reports for breds, and none of the local sales post reports for bred heifers. For full mouth calvy cows at the next closest sale, they're going from $1100 on up. I feel like I got a pretty good deal on them at $1025 just wanted to see...

    Bred heifers

Thank you, I guess it would have helped to include the location, I'm in northern California.

    Bred heifers

I went to the sale yesterday and ended up coming home with these two, both are bred to black Angus bulls, they averaged 1163lbs, #36 is slightly smaller, I would guess her to be around 1100lbs, with #41 weighing closer to 1225lbs. #36 was palpated at 5 months on Tuesday and #41 was palpated at 4...

    Brahman question

Just figured I'd update this thread, she had a healthy red brindle bull calf yesterday evening.
