Why not run a Charolais bull then and market some silver calves which would no doubt top the market or do very well on the rail for you.

    Cow Size

Nice cow Brad, pretty good looking! There are 17-1800 lb cows around I do know that. The herds/breeders whom I work on their sales for don't have them as a general rule of thumb. There are some that have them too, I would say the average up here would be more like 5-6 frame cows weighing...

    Cow Size

You must be spending to much time making meatballs. :lol2: A 600kg cow is actually 1320lbs. How many 1760lb (800kg) cows do you actually see around? Grass and environment make as much difference as any. I would guess if people would run 1/2 the cows they do now weaning weights would go up...

    Genex Bull Lad 20P-Working Clothes

Calf looks good! Cattle breeding really isn't that difficult but we seemed to make breeding difficult. I stopped by Frasers this spring to look at some Angus bulls. Didn't buy one this year but I certainly will give their program a look when I buy my next one. Good people, nothing fancy just...

    Genex Bull Lad 20P-Working Clothes

You're right about that, but you need to be excited about the bull yourself before you can market him to anyone else. I agree on Performa, good cattle that do a good job in being average and the best cattle always come from near average, no extremes that way. Performa would come up short in SC...

    Genex Bull Lad 20P-Working Clothes

That's awesome, why not offer some functional Angus bulls that not only commercial but purebred breeders alike can use as not everyone is mesmerized by EPD's and pedigrees. Truthfully you know that lots of the bulls available won't truly benefit the business anymore than selling a dream

    Genex Bull Lad 20P-Working Clothes

Why won't the AI companies pick on more useful cattle rather than just the numbers/pedigree? What was the significance of this bull to make Genex step out and doing something different?

    Just finished taking catalog photos

BRG, why don't you put a scattering of straw underneath the bull? I am not talking about knee deep, but some to cover the ground!

Any stud book, i.e. Precision, New Design, Prime Time's, etc. Not only are genetic defects worrysome but the lack of crest and character in many of the animals.

    Angus - Most influencial Families

We'll have to start a new post I guess as this will be talked about forever. I agree that the Dixie Erica cow family might be as good as they come.

    Angus - Most influencial Families

Maybe Doc doesn't bash the Herefords for the same reason I don't get into either. It doesn't matter, they aren't the breed I am a part of either. It's not uncommon to be critical of something you feel strongly about. There are days that I come off cranky about the Angus business and it's only...

    Angus - Most influencial Families

No not at all, but you girls get so cranky sometimes. Big breath. Anyways, Frankie, take a poll and find out exactly how many people find Doc offensive. Doc speaks his mind and that's great for two reasons. Experience and Education. Not that you need to go to school to be smart but Doc isn't...
