    Tax Purchase

Skyhigh, for the life of me I can't figure out why you are unwilling to pay your fair share, its for the kids........................................in Syria! I think you said you farm about 1500 acres, it takes fuel, fert., tires etc. 15,000 gal of fuel would be about 52,000, pre buy...

    Bison information

3way, just got your pm, I'll guess it was meant for somebody else? I think total bison kill in 2012 was around 48,000 head. (Most likely not counting back yard stuff) If we had a processor about 3 states closer, I'd add to the herd. Got to find a cattle truck that gets 50 mpg, fuel at a lot less...

    Bison information

I have bison, with 48 inch woven wire field fence one foot off the ground keeping them in. Never had a problem, and they don't work the fence line. (I hate barb wire, but a tight barb wire fence will hold them, see Texas bison assoc.) They eat as much or more than a beef cow size for size. Takes...

    My Cows are Docile

Risk tolerance is almost always based on your own ability to perform a given task. How many would call bull riding, or driving a crop duster, or working on the side of a hill with a tractor, high risk? These tasks are done all the time, and by some who make it look easy. They also live to tell...

    Cattle Feet

Inyati13, after spending a lot of years looking at critters which never had feet(since God removed them!), I can in a half bass ackwards way understand your fascination with feet :D If these cows throw a calf every year and make you money, why focus on their feet, bet they will be fine for many...

    Asphalt

skyhigh, you do not need a paving machine, all it really does is control the depth and how wide the a/c mix is applied. grade and pack the road base (the better the compaction, the longer the life of the a/c) spray a prime coat (this holds the a/c together, do not skip), spread your mix, roll...

    I'd pay good $$

GB, there is a book, titled How round is your hole, don't remember the author. There is a chapter on drilling square holes. It's just the way the bit is ground, works in wood and metal. Bet it would work in dirt also. Orton

    Buffalo

weaned calfs normally sell in Nov., figure about a dime each. Best way I've found is get them young and put them in with a pet cow, goat, etc. the symbiotic relationship really helps. All my buffs will eat out of my hand now. A good field fence keeps them in just fine. Just remember they are...

    teff and orchardgrass

sheepdr, FWIW, coated seed, work the seed bed like you would your garden, lots of sub moisture, seed on surface and roll with water filled roller. You should be able to cut every 30-35 days. Makes real nice hay. First frost takes it out. Cheers.

    Calculating profit

herofan, I sure hope that you will reach the income levels that will put you in the top 10%, or even 1%. This tends to generate a little different viewpoint. Let's say you get there, and have a solid six figure tax bill and you're in the 48% bracket, you could buy 10,000 gals. of fuel for about...
