    Young Gelbvieh Bulls

Haven't had a look at this site for a long while. We have mostly red Gelbvieh here in NZ, but still a few black are about. I think i prefer the second bull. I think the first is a bit high in the back legs, and perhaps those hocks look a little weak. We call them 'stilty' cattle. And i have...

lethargic 4 week old calf that didn't get colostrum

If they haven't had their colostrum, forget it. if they survive one set back, and maybe the next or even the one after that, something will get them. Calves that don't get their first good feed will alway let you down one day. We have to watch for that when we buy 4 day old calves to rear, by...

    Bull fertility: how early?

I would have no doubt your little bulls could be mischeif. We breed Gelbvieh her in NZ, and know that we have to run the entire and female calves separate from about 3-4months for that very reason. Certainly a PG would be a good idea.

Gelbvieh Bull "Big Gun" WJW Double U Freedom Fog s

Hi Elwapo, yes F.Fog has been well received down here. I love their...

Thanks so much, I am doing a yearling at the moment. She is going well. I show Gelbvieh cattle, and both the yearling and 2 year old will hopefully be going out this season. I have has a couple of years off, having babies, now it is time to get back to the cattle, normally they would be...

We want to break in a rising 2 year old heifer, any tips? We have done younger ones just fine, but don't want to stuff up this one, or hurt her or us.

    Could it be rotavirus?

Gelbvieh Bull "Big Gun" WJW Double U Freedom Fog s

How neat, i have some Freedom Fogs here in NZ and absolutely love them. Our first year trying them in our Gelbvieh herd, and we are impressed with how they have moderated the cattle, without taking away any of the good Gelbvieh traits. Here in NZ, we are all grass, with no grain feeding, so...
