A steer that doesn't like corn???

From my experience i would say the animal just doesnt know what corn is... yet... give him time to get used to it. In a few days or weeks he should be fattening up just fine

    A tragedy....

I don't know your exact situation but my some of my mamas are always hiding their calves in the woods beyond the pasture fence. Three strand elecric fence 5000+ volts and the calves walk right thru it when they are young. Actually watched one of my more protective mamas get so worried about the...

Choices are: 8460 Case IH for 2500, Vermeer 605 F for 1700, both are belt machines, or the New holland slat and chain baler which I believe is a model 853,could be wrong on that...

    fresh liver

Have an aunt that makes what she calls creamed liver. Its served with some kind of white sauce/gravy and it is very gooooood. Also beef tongue is one of my favorite meats. I bet i probably eat around a dozen a year as friends and family who buy steers to butcher refuse it. Their loss, my gain...

    Old round balers

So if given the choice between this type or an old International 2400 rubber belt baler, I assume you would choose the chain style? I ask because I own the international and could get a decent deal on the new holland and was wondering if this would be an upgrade or not. Thanks for the reply...

Was looking for a cheap used round baler. Found case/ih 8460 for 3000.00. Anyone have any info, good or bad, on this model? What other models would you recomend for reasonable price. Not going in to custom baling just my own 50 ac.

    Old round balers

Does anyone have any experience with the old bar and chain type round baler such as the older new holland? Was just wondering the pros and cons of them versus the rubber belted ones. Thanks to all who reply.

    Drilling ryegrass

Looking to drill in 30 ac of perrenial ryegrass and was wondering what type of setting to use on drill. Drill is an old JD-Van Brunt with no info on settings for ryegrass, just rye which I assume are different weights. Would I be closer if I used the settings for oats? Any other seeds close in...

How soon can we expect a calf

Going thru same thing right now. Cow ready to calve with 3rd baby. First two calves came right on schedule with some very good getting ready to birth signs from mama. This time around I would have sworn that with the signs she was showing 5 days ago I would have a calf on the ground by now but...
