Noticed cows losing tail switch. Thought they where just pulling them out. Then a couple of them started showing hair loss on the tail and looked rat tailed about three inches from tip. Has anyone heard of or had dealings with cattle tail louse. If so how did you treat them?

Thanks for all the info. I sold steers today and they weighted 772 at 1.47. If you take 772 at 62 percent that's 479lbs hanging weight and to make a little more than market i would have to charge 2.50lb hanging weight. Am i figuring this right.

I put her and one other heifer in the barn last night. The bedding I isn't the greatest. I've looked for someone who has some small straw bales but they are hard to find.

I checked late last night and first thing this morning and still nothing. I am getting anxious. This will be the first calves since I bought my own cattle.

Heifer is getting close to calving. This afternoon she was walking a little and laid down for about 30 sec then back up and kicking at her side . Then went to hay and started eating like nothing was going on.

I am going to buy some young cows from my Mother. She lives in AR and I live in KS and I was looking at buying the cows this late summer or early fall. When would be the best time to move the cattle to get them adjusted for winter here? What all will i need to haul them from state to state?

Does anyone if you can store it? If so how and for how long?
