    Contracted Tendons/Knuckling Over

I'm certainly no expert but about a year ago I had a calf born with severe contracted tendons on both front legs. I got so many different opinions (spint, surgery, put him down) on what to do but the best advice I received was to not do anything. Splinting could cause other issues such as rubs...

    Water Well Problem

Got a diagnosis on the well problem. The pump is out. The pump was a 1 1/2 HP. I am going back in with the same HP with a control box. It currently doesn't have a control box. Should have word sometime today on how much that will set me back. If you need a good well guy in the Frio/Medina...

    Water Well Problem

I really appreciate all the positive input. I now have a feeling it's electrical or the pump. Nothing happened when the contacts were closed. I'll update the post tomorrow when I know what the problem is for sure. Maybe it will help someone else do some troubleshooting in the future.

    Water Well Problem

It is a two wire pump with no control box. Couldn't be lightening, haven't seen rain around here in about 9 months. I had a fire ant problem and ants would get in the pressure switch and cause it to arc and burn the points and they would get in the breaker box and cause problems with the...

    Water Well Problem

Hadn't thought of the pressure tank being the problem but that is something the well service guys will have to check. That sure would be cheaper than having to pay for a new pump and installation. Thanks for the suggestion at least that gives me a little hope that there could be another answer...

    Water Well Problem

I have a 3/4 hp submersible pump in my water well. It won't kick on. The points on the pressure switch looked worn so I replaced them which I usually do once every year or so, but that didn't help. I don't do electical so I had a friend replace the 30 amp breaker at the breaker box and still...

    Old Round Bales

I have several 5 X 5 round bales that are 4 years old. Does anyone have any good ideas on what to do with these round bales? Surely there is a way to get some use out of them even if they're not good to feed cattle anymore.

    Molasses in place of fertilizer

I'm looking for the best bang for my buck. I want to increase grass production at the cheapest possible cost.

    Molasses in place of fertilizer

Okay, I checked with the ag dealer. I found out it is a "hay mix" which includes molasses to stimulate microbe activity in the soil. The mix includes nitrogen, a soil activator, and humic acid. I also found out it costs about the same as applying the 21-0-0. Still would like some more...

    Molasses in place of fertilizer

Can anyone give me information on using Molasses instead of fertilizer on my coastal field? I've heard some talk recently about local experiments on hay fields and was wondering if it would be worth trying. Liquid or Dry? How much per acre? etc.

    Downed Cow

After being down 18 days, she's up! I went out to feed and water her on Saturday and she was standing and grazing very slowly, but she was up and about 50 yards from where she had been down. She looks bad, very skinny. If she hadn't been in good condition before she went down I don't know if she...

    Downed Cow

She out in the middle of the pasture. I don't have a way to get her up at this time. I've thought about getting help to roll her over onto a tarp, then pulling her to the barn and wenching her up from the rafters. That might just be a big fiasco though. Any ideas?

    Liquid Feed

Found the information I was looking for. Seems mostly positive. On top of the nutritional value, I like the fact that it is delivered and costs about the same price as protein tubs which I have to go and pick up. I have pushed a tub out of the back of the truck more than once when it's fallen...
