New Critter Getter

I've been wanting a hearing-safe firearm to carry around the farm and dispatch varmints I encounter, something easy to carry and quiet enough to shoot in the presence of my kids without having to stop and get ear muffs on them (while the varmint gets away). I decided on an FN 502 pistol with Dead Air RXD22Ti suppressor. I brought the suppressor home today and tried it out this evening. It's very quiet with standard velocity 22 LR rounds and a touch quieter with subsonic rounds. I'm planning to add a light and maybe a red dot sight to be better equipped for nocturnal varmints.

Put a suppressor on my ruger 300 blackout ranch rifle this last fall. Game changer for sure! You don't have to get out of the vehicle when rolling around the farm.

I carry a 22mag Smith revolver most of the time. It's my go to for predators around here. Largest would be a coyote, or groundhogs. Lucky enough we dont have the large ones, yet... hog, bear, panther, wolf etc. What do people carry for the large animals? Or would that be rifle only?
Always wanted a silencer for my hunting rifle, but Im already deaf...

Put a suppressor on my ruger 300 blackout ranch rifle this last fall. Game changer for sure! You don't have to get out of the vehicle when rolling around the farm.

A suppressed 300 BLK rifle will likely be my next addition to the arsenal. It would be great for quietly taking care of varmints at medium range and would make a great starter gun for my kids when they begin deer hunting. I have a Banish 30 that stays on my 270 WSM most of the time, but I'll probably convince myself that I need another 30 caliber can to dedicate to a 300 BLK. The $0 tax stamp and shorter wait times are tempting me to go on a can-buying binge.

There are a few holster options out there for suppressed pistols. I have a Cole-Tac chest holster on order. I may modify it for hip carry if I don't like it on my chest.

Coyotes are the biggest varmint around here too, but my main targets are chicken-killing coons and hole-digging armadillos.

Hearing loss is cumulative. If you have any left, it's worth preserving. Suppressors are easier than ever to get, and it's amazing how much they reduce noise (and recoil).

I have seen bears, cougars, and coyotes in the yard spitting distance from the house. Wolf killed 2 weaned heifers about 150 yards from the house. If you see me packing anything it is either deer or elk season. Except maybe a rattlesnake has been sighted but most of them get killed with a shovel.

It's remarkable how well the .300 Blackout runs suppressed, even with a pistol barrel. I put a 10.5" upper on mine, I should have gone shorter. Out in the open you can hear the slide operate. Even inside, it's just pleasant to shoot with next to no recoil. This is with subsonic ammo of course.

I bought a dead air mask for 22s. I like it very much. Play with amo to get sound ur after. 1050 is typically sweet spot. That speed is different out of a pistol vs rifle. Rifle is louder.

This has been the best subsonic 22 ammo I've found when considering both performance and price. This is for a suppressed, semi auto pistol. Cycles every time, reasonably "clean" as far as rimfire ammo goes, and accurate.

The main reason I carry a shotgun, notice not a red head in the bunch and the cow and calf are about 30’ away
