This...Early in our time together I asked my wife if she wanted a coke. She said yes and I asked what kind. I think the look she gave me revealed pretty much all of her confusion.

I always thought it was only city folk that used the word “soda”. Of course, that was after I figured out that when folks said “soda” they were referring to pop lol

Coke in a glass bottle from Mexico is the only way go btw....
Still made with real sugar instead of corn syrup. Only pop I drink. And just occassionally

Pepsi has one that is real sugar, not hf corn syrup.....that's what I get when I buy it... which is very seldom... I have practically stopped drinking "soda pop"... couple mouthfuls and I feel bloated...
I do like chocolate soda....."ChocoFizz" by Durango Soda Company... no HF corn syrup either... just pure cane sugar... Not as "fizzy" either... I don't get a bloated full feeling from it... Makes a great ice cream soda at home...

Kinda like those little square hard (as a rock) baked pieces of toast so many places insist go good with a garden salad. (not that a garden salad itself goes good with much).
They wouldn't have to put those hard squares of 'once upon a time was bread' in there if they'd stop hiring some dingleberry to crush up all the captain's wafer crackers.
(same guy moonlights tangling up tee post ties in the bag)

You, sir, are correct! We only buy the Mexican Coke and Sprite/7Up made with real sugar. You can still get Dr. Pepper made with 100% cane sugar, too. They taste like soft drinks did back in the day before the high fructose mess.

I buy the DP at Albertsons. Sometimes I can find it at Walmart!
I have picked up DP at the local Mexican market , if I "need" it for the great nieces and nephews.
Coke is easy....we get it at Sam's.

I was doing the Pepsi/peanuts in a bottle at the feed mill as a kid. One of the old timers there said it looked like I was eating a gosh darn turd, only not so politely.
