young cow for eating

This past year i had a steer slaugherted and he's a good eater,but i have a feeling when i get my cows and first calf heifers checked i august there's gonna be one or two not rebred.Alot of the old timers around here say a young cow is good eating,i wonder if she checks open in august then i let her graze till grass is gone then put her up and fatten her properly how good the steaks will be?

she should make some good eating steaks.you may want to put her on feed for 60 days in the fall.

We're fixing to eat a 4 year old LH cow. Gave her 2 seasons w/ a bull and no calf.
All she does is eat. Loading her should be interesting because she is the bull's best friend.
They are always together.
We plan on keeping the loin cuts and HB the rest.
Should be good eating.
