While I can not see spending that kind of money on a cooler a lot of people swear by them. I received a YETI stainless steel cup/glass a while back and I have to say it keeps cold stuff cold and hot stuff hot. It was right at 100deg yesterday and I had a glass of ice and water in it about 4 oclock yesterday. I left it in my truck over night and there was still Ice in it this morning. I wish it was 32oz instead of 16oz

They are flat out the best coolers out there. Buddy of mine just bought one for his boat that's big enough for his 6'2 frame to lay down in. Crazy money though

Do they have a lifetime warranty? if they do I will buy one that size and use it till I die then have my wife bury me in it. Win - Win

My engineer daughter bought one for me. Birthday present.

I am way to much of a tightwad to buy one. Now that I have one, I am scared to leave it in the back of the truck if I go to town for anything.

Igloo used to make a five day cooler that would work nearly as good as a Yeti. Mine broke and couldn't find one to replace it. After only having to buy ice once every three days with the 5 day cooler I finally sprung for a Yeti. It will cut your ice purchases down by 60% so you could convince yourself that it will pay for itself but the sticker shock is bad. I got a discount on mine when I haggled with the owner and offered cash.

Only thing I don't like about it is the suction it forms. Sometimes its difficult to open the lid.

what about the knock off brands they are cheaper and look the same to me.

If I got one I would put a spigot on it and use it like a water keg

They are not the only game in town. I have an Engel, pelican is another brand. Both are very comparable to the yeti. All the roto molded coolers should in theory work the same. Yeti gets the most praise and they cost the most. I got into the 65 quart Engel for around 250.

Someone with a fat azz sat on mine. Cracked the lid. It has never been the same since. It was huge. $150 from Academy. Hinges and catches replaced but it is not the same as it once was.

Yeah, once you put more screws in the box it will never be the same.

They look the same to me. When I got mine there was no competition. I wouldn't think twice about buying another brand if I could save some money. I would have bought an igloo if I could have found it. Think I paid $40 for my last one and it held ice as good as the yeti.

Buy a Engel cooler and tell them you saw their ad on a commercial fishing boat. I have taken some of the people they sponsor fishing and diving for TV shows on the outdoor channels. My fiberglass fishboxes-coolers hold ice better than a Yeti or the others, but I sure can't build one for the price they sell theirs for. And by the way Engel coolers have some eyes molded in them for cables so you can lock them to something so they don't walk off.

I've toyed around with the idea of building a portable cooler with chill plates that run off 110v. But ice is cheaper. Long range trips or regular trips like you do, chill area are the way to go

I have a K2 and a lot of guys around here have the Yetis I will say this once you get them cold they will hold ice and keep drinks cold for day
My K2 creates a suction also and I have to open the drain plug to let it suck air to open it
I had an old metal coleman cooler that I carried in my truck for yrs one sept near KC Mo we were doing a job and the temps were right at 100 everyday I would fil ilt with water bottles every monday morning and then keep adding ice everyday by Wednesday half of the bottles would have ice in top of them and the cooler lid would be so hot it would burn you
I had never had it freeze water before but it sure did then

They make the little ones that plug in to your cig lighter. They simply don't hold much. Not very expensive. I have one for trips.
