Just thought id share

I sold some sommercial brangus pairs a couple of weeks ago.

3 sold as pairs( 2 calves sired by angus 1 by my red angus plus bull) and the separated the other(black beefmaster cross bull).

The pairs brought over $1000 each.
They were all second calvers and my guess is they were bred back( didnt get to see them go through the sale ring)
We paid $450 for the cows as breeding age heifers (excellent cows raised 600lb calves their first time). There was nothing wron gwith the heifers they were in good condition when bought guy would rather see his calves sold to people .

Get this.... They separated the other cow and calf. Calf was 3 months old (i rag my calves within a week after birth)and weighed 375 pounds and he brought over $500 :o , he was lack and had some good mucling. Mom brought $700

our salebarn sales cows one at a time or pairs one at a time. They only sale group if a special group of calves or heifer go through. (someone may sell some registered herefords or some full blood brahman an dthey would go through as a group)

I may have to sell the rest of the commercial cows!!!!

Wish pairs were that cheap here. The least I have paid lately is $1125 and she was 8 with a small heifer calf and not bred back. Sold a 5 year old pair for $1600.

Got a friend that is getting slaughter cows from your area and trucking them to eastern Tennessee to kill. Must be cheaper. He has been getting a load a week for the last 3 weeks.
A couple of years ago he got 3 loads a week of longhorns from Texas and after the trucking he still made money.

Yep- a couple weeks ago 32 3 year olds with new calves at side sold for $2000 a pair at Miles City Livestock.... 35 more 4 year old pairs from the same place sold for $1900 last week...

Yesterday- 700 lb bangs vaccinated yearling registered red angus grassfed replacement heifers sold for $1000 a piece at Glasgow Livestock....

Heavy demand in this area...Lots of winter moisture- plus spring rains is promising lots of green grass...

How much does Bangs vaccination effect pricing in the west?

Allows a larger number of potential buyers- as most states in this area won't allow nonvaccinants to be imported for breeding purposes...
