Wormy cows

Sorry its been a while since I have been on. Holidays are sooo busy. I hope everyone is doing well, and over the frantic shopping stage. I have two more gifts to hunt up and then I am done.

Our cattle look a bit scraggly. So we wormed them the other day with the liquid on the back wormer. How long before I will notice any difference? Thank you

Try givin them some extra feed and you'll be able to tell a lot quicker

you should be able to tell some difference in some animals in a week or two. hope you get a good freeze. we wormed ours the other day right before it dropped down into the TEENS. thats the only real freeze ive had.

We've bought several cows last month at the sale barn and I noticed it took about 10 days for them to start looking better instead of scraggly. Most of them are aged as "old" so we also give them 3 - 5 gallon buckets of grain per week (its a 14% protein pelleted grain and I realize that's not much, but its enough to get em to come up when called if they aren't waiting on me when I get there) and they've picked up weight and look really good.

Drench wormers like ivomec pour on, work great on the externals (ticks, grubs ect.) but only so so on the enternals. For the enternals you need to use a product like valvason (sp) My vet recomends using half a dose of the ivomec pour on and a dose of valvason, He had us using safeguard but it wasn't getting the flukes.
