after some advice. gave all my cattle over 12 months a long lasting bolus before they went to grass. the calves had 2 doses of pour on 2 months apart. they are all now in the barn and dont want them to lose condition as they look well. should i dose them all now with a pour on or should they be ok untill they get another bolus before they go out again.

I deworm our calves in summer - once with a drench and once with a pour-on 4-6 weeks later. I ALWAYS deworm them again prior to winter. You want to "clean them out" before having to go thru winter, so they utilize their feed as best as possible. I rarely see any ill-effects from deworming at any stage. Maybe if you had cattle that were heavy loaded with worms, they might be ill for a bit.
But, in our area, you are not recommended to use anything that will kill grubs after 11-5. At this stage, if they have any grubs, they will be in the spine region, and you can KILL your cattle. So, no pour-ons in winter, unless you are sure you degrubbed them late fall.
