Do you all worm your baby calves when you worm the mama's? The calves are all under 2 months. Were using injectable wormer if that matters.

Yes, we use a valbezen on them in the spring along with momma

I also worm mine with a cheaper generic injectable. I read a article a while back that worming calves when working the first time ( 2 -3 months) can add 20 or so lbs to their weaning weight. This was from their test subjects. To me it doesn't cost much so why not.

We worm the 1st time we work them, generally 3 months, and again at weaning - same time as the cows/bulls.
That's the way we do it too.

I worm when they are two to three months at first round of shots, Virashield and Covexin 8, and again at three months at boosters and cutting. Calves are weaned off before I work cows in May. May or may not worm again at weaning, depending, but if I keep them they will be wormed again when I fly tag and pinkeye.
