Just picked up my 7way and virashield . After reading and testimony here on using drench. I decided to do that this go round. Are there any tips you have for drenching cows ?

I don't know if you have bought your drench yet but if you haven't Synanthic is a good choice. Works great, smaller dose and cheaper than Panacur/Safeguard. Prepare to get messy also.

all they had was safeguard but I did get a free drench gun. I'm fortunate that I have fuller supply and Jeffers here. I prefer fuller because the service is better and they truly appreciate my business.

What kind of drench gun did you get?
Them old stainless ones lasted forever other than the leather piston seal, but it was hard to figure exactly how much you were sucking up into the cylinder.
I don't enjoy drenchgun worming at all.

brand of gun is simcro . It's plastic with a reg drench nozzle and a hook nozzle. Straps, hose, extra springs and orings.

That's what we use. The only tip I would have is weigh them before you dose them. If they spit it out, dose them again with the full dose

That's the part I don't enjoy--I always ended up wearing about as much as went down their throat.

My vet and I tube them. It takes two people, if not three! We run a tube clear down the esophagus and then pour it in through a funnel. No waste and no mess, but one person can not do it alone.

I use synanthic and I like the synanthic gun better than the others I've seen. It's metal and works good.

Definitely takes two people , calves were easy cows were a little harder. But overall I liked it. We didn't make to big of a mess.
