Today we preg tested the cows and scour bossed the replacements. 67 animals in total. 1 open and 1 late. Not bad i think. No injuries, not unless you count the vet's ultra sound machine. So he had to finish the old fashion way. But for some reason, the cows were nuts today. The are ususally much calmer. Dunno if it is a weather change of if something spooked them. Made it harder to work them that is for sure.

Our fun is this weekend. All the family comes out and we have a big dinner. Lots of fun.

Worked mine on Sunday; went smoothly, though with just myself and the farm manager(wife), it took most of the day. Nobody got hurt(beyond a bruise here and there), no cows escaped, none died. 'Twas a good day, for the most part.
Preg-checked the Spring herd - too many open for my tastes; sent 4 to the salebarn yesterday, 2 of the best cows in the herd were in that group, but they were slated to leave next fall, anyway, as they're 10 & 11.
Put in quiet-weaner nose blabs and gave the first round of weaning vaccinations to the Spring calves; will pull the noseblabs this coming weekend and separate the calves from their dams for final fenceline weaning.
Castrated, vaccinated and ear-tagged the Fall calves. Cut out the cows that are going straight to the bull for fall breeding.
Have AI-bred about 7 cows/heifers from the Fall group this week; adult cows will then shift over to the bull group, but we'll give the heifers another shot at AI, if they repeat, before they go to the bull for cleanup breeding.
