We have, and would do it again. Seller kept 1/3 semen interest.

Also, don't be surprised if the ones with retained semen interest are more spendy than the others.
Strikes me as a marketing strategy. Nothing wrong with the idea. If I were selling a bull for more than what I thought he might otherwise bring, stating that I want to retain an interest in semen might convince the buyer the bull is worth the inflated asking price.

In all fairness to the breeders and sellers when you sell a good looking young bull with great numbers why not keep some semen interest? When your in the business of selling bulls there's always going to some you'd like to keep that you sell. Because contrary what some folks think not all bulls pass their good looks off to their calves, and some no matter the name or numbers don't grow out good either.

No I am not buying or selling I have seen it in catalogs, in my opinion it would be like buying a new truck and then the dealer could use it when you was not using it.
When I buy a bull I would want 100% of that bull. :tiphat:
