The storm started coming through here yesterday morning. It started out mild with rain, heavy at times. The rains got heavier to the east, where Branded lives. It rained all day and into the early hours this morning until it turned to snow. It is 7:30 am here and just stopped. The wind blew all night, gusts upto 30 mph. It is blowing this morning at about 20 mph.

This is the worst I have seen. I went out this morning. The cows are huddled close together behind a wind break, covered in frozen hair and a crust of snow. Dawn is breaking and if the storm eases, I suspect they will go back to the hay rings.

Temperature now is 15 degrees, with a wind chill of below zero.

Up at 5:30 am it was 32 degrees with the wind blowing and now it is already down to 25. We got a dusting of snow. I have some low places I will be putting a lot of hay out for the cattle and some old hay to unroll to make a bed in. I am a little SE of you BR so what you are getting now will be here shortly. At least it is not suppost to last, but a couple days.

My cows are still on grass but think I will unroll a roll today to give them something to lay on. Gonna let the ground freeze first. 52 at midnight, 23 now. North wind makes it feel worse.

It rained all afternoon yesterday and through the night. Temps stayed around 40. Sun is out and very breezy but still low 40's. I asked my son to put a couple rolls of hay up in the one pasture that they have been grazing stockpiled grass so they have the option to fill up on hay and not have to be trying to graze when it drops off. I think that they will get dried off and warmed up a bit by the sun before it starts to drop later. Had 1.2 inches of rain, ground is squishy to walk on. But not as bad as those of you in Ky so we will be thankful for what we have. Expect we will be getting those dropping temps here soon.
