I tried inter seeding, renovating, and hoof tillage after a major 2014-2015 winter kill on the "improved" pasture species. The most productive paddocks this summer were the ones I just grazed while wet in early May. All they had growing at that time were some patches of quack grass. There is quite a forage mix there now, but the majority of it is timothy grass which was used in a hay mix by the previous owner. I always thought timothy was not very competitive?
