In asking around I get lots of opinions. In addition to the winter pasture and hay bales brought to the pasture for feed I need a good ration. I have been feeding 2lb. Per cow of rice brand per day. Rice brand is easy to get here. What do you think. Enough? More? Add something to it? I also have minerals out and a protein tub out. Thank you.

Protein tub, and hay may be enough. Hay might actually be enough, if its good quality. If the hay actually needs supplemented, your 2 pounds, is probably not enough.

If the Bran is available and cost effective I'd feed it at 5-6 lbs. per head per day and get rid of the tubs.

We tried the sweet pro tubs four years ago since we started using them we haven't fed our mature cows anything else. We do plant winter pastures so the have good grass and we feed hay since we only let them on the pastures for a few hours a day. I highly recommend the sweet pro 18 for mature cows.

Right or wrong what I do is have tubs out and I feed once a day to each paddock around 10lbs of this mix I made up.
My mix is 100lbs of sweet feed 100 lbs of fine ground corn 100 lbs of commodity blend. I also leave free choice mineral out all year round.

The young calves get full feeders of jumpstart. The really young calves from the sale barn get calf developer free choice.
