Anyone ever run across good deals on Aermotor Windmills. Been thinking of putting one up on a new place we bought recently. As the pond needs extensive work, and the rest of the place is served by a creek branch that has dried out a couple times in the last year or two.First thing I've noticed is they aint cheap...May try and find a good used one,ran across a used one several years ago for 350 bucks, Should have grabbed as I never expected to own this other farm.

I don't know where to find a cheap used one either Crowder.
It seems that everyone finally realizes the benefits of wind power.
We have been wanting to do that here for a while but we can't afford to get started to get cheap power.
Congrats on the new place. :)

My husband was in the market for one several years ago and they were in the thousands back then. They used to be everywhere when I was a kid and now I hardly see one around here, anyway.

I am totally dumb about this. You will need a water well, correct? That's a major expense, as well.

Take a chill, Uncle Crowder. If you had the group of students I had yesterday, I figgure there would have been blood on the walls. ;-)

Okay, I take back the "blood on the walls" statement. it was in response to a post that is no longer there.

I do not advocate violence against America's youth. I just keep saying that over and over...

Maybe just some of America's youth.

theyre on ebay too. good used ones are hard to find. my stupid nieghbor just hauled one to scrap that i been tryin to buy for yrs from him...but wouldnt sell it. sold his place and they pushed it over and sold it for scrap....wish id have seen that comin . i already got one but theyre hard to talk people out of em when ya see em somewhere. im always scoutin em tryin to buy another. 500-1000 for a good working one intact is a steal round here

I don't see any around these days. Used to be a few around. I had a big idea a few years ago to get one and put up in a remote area a mile or two from the nearest powerline. Ordered the Aeromotor catalog. After finding out they start at $10,000 I quickly turned to other big ideas..

my mill originally came from south georgia to sand mountain. then got hit by a twister. it is a sears and roebuck
sort of like a dempster.

Do you have to have a holding tank? What happens when the tank is full? I mean does the wind mill automatically stop pumping. I have never studied one up close. I only know of one farm that has one and it hasnt worked it probably 30 years. I sure like the way they look.

wind blows it pumps...it can be furled outta the wind but for the most part it runs it pumps whenever the wind moves it.

for yall out west they can be a little easier to find. florida water table is so low they aint that popular..we mostly just dig a hole.

e bay is really yer best bet. keep watching for one near enuff to drive to. theyre quite a complicated piece of mach for what ya think so try to buy one as complete as poss
