Can anyone tell me anything about this Red Simmy bull. I was thinking about using him on a few 734 daughters to moderate their frame a touch.

Didn't mean to high jack your post, sorry

No problem. I prefer a lever action Winchester .410. I like it cause it won't knock me on my butt and I'm not afraid to squeeze the trigger.

Hubby prefers the 243, 870. I think the .22 is a browning.

Ok Cert if you insist. Have a Remington 700 BDL 30-06,Ruger 10-22,Winchester 20 gauge,S&w 357 mag,and bought the bride a 22 9 shot pistol. Forget what brand and she keeps it hidden. Don't want to go lookin for it. Not sure why she hides it. LOL

Back to the original question (sorry guys).
I have a friend that is a Genex rep. He told me about these two bulls back in January. Said - word was they are GOOD.
Why would you pick Wincester over Remington to moderate frame? There isn't much diff, but Remington is smaller framed. Both have good points. I think in the pics Remington appears to be a little smoother shouldered. Remington has larger SC also. But, Winchester has more weight performance.
I am using Dream On (sire) this year. Plan on using him on a couple hetero black cows to try to get a red calf, and will use him on a few red cows.
Semen won't be available for a while on these two brothers. HMMM, just looked at the "horizons" book and it doesn't say if they are available or not. Maybe I was told that.

Jeanne, thanks for the reply.

I guess I was just looking at the numbers. I am after the "clubby" look. and just from the pics in the horizions magazine...I liked Winchester better. But they are full flushes. Shouldn't much matter.

Semen companies are getting real good at promoting a bull and not selling semen till the following breeding season. Accelerated Genetics did it with the hereford Gerber Lombardi. It is frustrating, at least to me.

Yes, I take semen orders from all our NY Simmental Assn members (all beef breeds). I love it when they order a bull & I look all over for it and can't find it because it's not in the book yet & semen's not even available  I really don't know if these brothers are available yet or not. They aren't even listed on the web site yet. Checked this AM.

~

I just got my Genex catalog this morning and called Genex to confirm an order of semen.

I also asked about Remington & Winchester.

Genex has Remington semen available. $20

None is yet available from Winchester.

Neither are listed on their website:

Hope this helps.
