Will See

Around here 2200 lb butcher bulls are bringing in 1.33.. would have made good coin buying them in the fall at $.90 and feeding them through, probably more than any steer!

Don't know what they will bring, but they will be the highest you've ever sold.

I hauled 8 of my own and cleared 7881 after commissions and fees.
Two steer calves brought 3.20 had a heifer bring 2.95.

Shipped a complete psycho bull calf last Thursday. 1.81 on 610 lbs. He was well over 725 lbs when he was loaded here, so he did lots of running in the pen at the sales yard. I held him in the chute until the truck came and had it paneled out to the trailer, built like Fort Knox with chains and walk-through gates so he couldn't spread it apart or lift it. Would have been one of the best looking bulls I had ever raised, but not right in the head.

To top that off I saw a longhorn pair fetch 1375 today.
That same pair you would have been lucky to have got 600 to 700 for last year.
That's about the same as here, good quality heavy boned longhorn pairs are 1200$ to 1375$.

CB, I haven't been to Livinngston in about 4 months, but I talked to a local guy yesterday that said he had been buying LH cross 6 month bred cows for "three to four hundred apiece at Livingston sale barn, bought 3 just yesterday".
I pressed him on it a little--"You're buying 6 month bred cows or heifers for $400 at Livingston sale barn?"
Him: "Oh yeah, been buying 'em for the last few weeks every week"

Something changed since I went last or is he just full of feces?

I'm a few hundred miles away but I think I can safely say he's not buying any 6 month bred cows for 300 to 400$, if so I will be coming down there.

We haven't topped $3.00 here yet but we were real close last week when some 375 pound calves brought $2.90. It amazes me how fast we went from the first calf to top $2.00 to knocking on the door of $3.00.

Keyword: Longhorns.. Don't know if they're that cheap but bring considerably less than good beef cattle. Probably some lighweight young longhorns @ about 450.

He is full of it cause at 400 dollars I would have stuffed the trailer and hauled them to Crockett.

A poor quality thin boned heavy bred longhorn here will bring about double that here. And a good bred longhorn will bring 1000 to 1200$ and pairs on up.
