Wifes really getting into Christmas this year

She found out one of her friends is facing forclosure with 2 kids who dont even have a tree to decorate. Young kids too. So she pulls the ornaments off our tree and we put it in the truck so she
Take it over to them. Made me even more proud to say shes mine.
Our kids havent gotten in the spirit this year so no loss for them. We usually just do one family gift and stocking stuffers Im thinking of taking the family gift over to them too. Undecided on that one.

You've got a keeper. The best Christmases that we've had in my ten years of marriage have been when we're able to help someone that really needed it. It just makes everything more special.

My wife and I both decided we didn't want anything for Christmas. Well, actually I did want one of those jamming gizmos that would allow me to block all cell phone use within so many yards of me so I can teach some of those inconsiderate people a little something but I learned there is a whopping fine for owning or possessing one along with some jail time so that's off the table. Anyhow, we decided to each select someone we thought was deserving and give them each an anonymous cash gift for Christmas in the amount equal to what we intended to use to by each others gifts. I watched from a distance as my recipient received his and the joy on his face was well worth the cost. The person my wife selected was heard saying she would spend the money on some other people even though she needs some help herself but that's just her nature. She quit school in the third grade to take care of her family and can't read or write so you can only imagine how little she makes.

that was so sweet of your wife todo that for that family.we heard of some kids that wasnt gonna have much of a christmas.so while i was shopping for great nephew i got them 2 or 3 toys.

These posts are some of the best I have ever read on this site.
We do pretty much the same thing. I am so thankfull to be able to give and help in some way.
I know you can't give unless you have something, but I believe that one's worth is not measured by what they have, but by what they give.

This year for us, as usual, we ask each other what we want for Christmas. "I don't know, I haven't thought about it," is the usual answer.
Some time back I told my wife that I am just a kid and still want a present under the tree. I believe in giving, but I also believe in receiving. One year I wanted a particular knife and she got it for me. Now I just tell her to wrap the knife up and put it under the tree again. If I liked getting it once then I still like getting it. I have gotten that knife several times and enjoyed getting it each time.
This year I think I got the knife and a book. Not sure because we haven't got around to unwrapping presents yet.

I know some people think I am a little weird. I have never argued that point one way or the other. ;-)
