My 'pet' cow (my 4-H Cow) had a beautiful simmie/angus cross heifer calf. I went out to check on them, and my pair, including the 2 /12 mos. heifer calf were fine, and when we just went out to do chores, she was dead. We had some twins a few days ago, and dad gave me a choice of 4 of them. There were 3 bulls, and 1 heifer. I picked a black bull calf. (simmie/RA/BA) The cow still is bawling, and thos was the first time I dried since my grandpa died a little over a year ago. She accepted the calf, but is still bawling for her old calf. She diddn't deserve this. She had hers trampled last year, and was a good mother, show cow, and at times, my best friend. I had that calf so tame you could walk to the house, and it would follow you, and the cow is the same. Too bad it happened, but I think that it better to happen to me, then a farmer that is struggling. I can sell this bull calf to our neighbor, because he wanted one like it, but I won't make as much money for university.

Sorry about your calf Angus Cattle Shower. I always feel sorry for one of my cows when they lose a calf too. At least she has a new calf to look after though and you have something to sell. You have a great attitude and are obviously thankful for what you have; I respect that in a person. Hope it all goes well with the new calf for you and your cow.
