Could it be too much rain? Wrong soil? Ilost one or 2 already, had to replant, at this rate I will have to keep on replanting them to get any.

I would say that it was due to fact that they are getting to much rain. I experienced the same thing about 2 weeks ago, we had over 5" of rain in a 24 hour period. I lost beans, tomatoes, and cabbage.

You don't mention how much rain you've had, nor do you mention what kind of soil you've planted them in. It's been a number of years since I last raised tomatoes but, if memory serves, tomatoes need a fairly high amount of nitrogen/fertilizer. If you're not side dressing with a fertilizer that meets their needs, that could very well be your problem.

I would have to agree with '82vette and say either too much water or, what happens more often in my case, spider mites. Little bitty red mites. I got lucky this year as it looks as though a whole bunch of lady bugs have taken up residence in the garden. My green beans never did recover from the drowing they took in April. Black eyed peas are coming on gangbusters, though. I am gonna be freezing them like crazy.

Lammie...have you ever tried putting up peas in the freezer in a simple pillow case? My wife has done it for years....shell them and put them in dry...no washing....they will not freezer burn, will not freeze and stick together....just like fresh picked peas....when you're ready for peas just scoop out what you want and wash and clean them before you begin cooking.

We freeze our peas in a plain brown paper bag. Unwashed.

They keep a year or two like this.

Biggest mistake most people make when planting tomatoes, that they don't plant them deep enough.

When setting out, bury them all the way up to the first set of leaves.

Usually the plants have been getting fertilized everyday in the little pots and don't have enough root system to help them with the transition and enough to grow also.

Probably too wet. Don't know about your area, but whiteflies are a problem in our area right now too. They will do the same thing to your tomatoes.

No water = turning yellow and wilting for maters.

Little late on that response, my tomatoes were dead and gone months ago. ;-)

I just now noticed that. Just goes to show what a late night drug induced response will cause. I have to take a prescription antihistimine at night for my allergies and it makes me loopy even in the morning until about 1 pm then im alright.

I understand. My brother has bad allergies also, this time of year is a killer for him too.
