Anyone feed their cows whole sunflower seeds? I read about goat people feeding it and it seems to help with milk production and cream percentages.

Monica I don't know of anyone feeding sunflower seeds to cattle down here in Texas but I know several sizeable goat operations that feed them with good results. High protein, high fat and adequate fiber. Just don't overfeed. I see no reason why they wouldn't work with cattle other than cost and if you have a source of cheap seed I'd give it a try. The black oil seed have higher nutrient profile than the striped seed. You'll have some pass thru but then that happens with wcs and other things as well. Good luck.
