When trying to grow your heifers which is better, higher RFV or protein? I know there are more factors to the equation than this, but I'm curious what gives more bang for the buck. Heifers are on straight forage diet, and are not bred.
Protein along with TDN, ADF and NDF. RFV is nothing more than a calculated number using some of the other values obtained in a feed test. Works fairly well with alfalfa but stick with protein, TDN, ADF and NDF and any of the net energ values given in your test results.Craig":2c3qqk37 said:When trying to grow your heifers which is better, higher RFV or protein? The higher the TDN the more digestible.....Craig":1zv8un3a said:Aside from protein, do you want higher or lower scores?
