perched atop my rock
in the cool october breeze
distant cattle called in close through the rifle scope

physical pain not an annoyance now,
just a reminder that I'm still alive
time will heal all
and does not exist here

valley life spread before me
two thousand feet below
so easy to memorize the route
leading out of the maze
from up here where buckskin meets blue

It takes talent to write, and guts to post it.

I assume you wrote this from a real experience. If you have a picture of your perch and don't mind, post it. I would like to see how close my minds eye came to the real thing.

Yes, I wrote it in my head from the top of the ranch yesterday... cowboy church service :D I'll see if I can get my wife to show me how to use the camera and go up later this week and take a few pictures.

Thanks all, I'm glad you enjoy it.

Well done indeed. Visualization came easy and naturally as I read it and your ability to impart that is a great asset to have under your hat CP.

I don't think I want to see a photo, I have an image in my mind and would hate to be disappointed ;-)
Nice work!
