What would you think?

I was leaving my buddy's place Saturday and as I got out to unlock the gate I noticed some sweet feed poured on the ground on
the road side of the gate. I found that strange as we don't have any for our cows. I thought maybe somebody poured it to attract
the Turkey. Nobody knows anything about it. I found at least 3 trash can lid size " piles" and there might have been one under the car.
What would you think if you found that near your gate in an area sort of out of the way but not without any neighbors ? Thanks in advance.

any trail riders around there?

I have never seen any..........your thinking they took a break at that spot? Why didn't they eat then? Thanks for your reply.

I'm thinking cattle thieves. Maybe trying to get the cattle to enter a trailer or something like that. Cut the lock and test the waters as to speak. After the cattle eat what is on the ground, pour some in the trailer and hope they walk in.

I agree with rocksprings.....someones trying to get to the cows. If they were baiting in turkeys it wouldn't be by a gate and it would be cracked corn not sweet feed

That's what it sounds like to me too. If so, I got a couple eared cows that you might want to put in your pasture that I assure you will break them of thievery for good. (of course getting them to you might be problematic as well)

I think they are trying to steal a calf............or two............the way the fence is near the gate if you got em up there.........I don't know. I have never tried to " catch" a calf like that. I suppose if you got the balls to do something like this you can prolly sling a rope as well. Thanks for your reply. It seems odd to me.

Since its on the side of the road, it sounds to me like someone cleaned the bottom out of a hopper bottom trailer. See that quite often around here, after they have driven around and shook what was stuck to the sides loose.

Good morning. Nah this is in the driveway...........but its just a pull off from the road. The road is coleche but the grass in
the driveway helped to " hide" the feed. The other fellows didn't even notice it after I kicked one of the piles hoping they
might see it then and to get an idea how long it had been there. Lloyd is going out there today. I hope everything is ok.

I suppose most of ya'll will not be too surprised ( as I am not surprised but still question what and how it really happened. ) but I'm here to tell you that " Leroy", my friend Lloyd's young beefmaster bull is gone! The rest of the cows are there. Lloyd is empty feeling I can tell so I didn't press him for every detail. I'll tell you what I know. The sheriff says the lock on the gate " is one they can pick." Everythings in place exept the one bull is gone. I suppose that " picking" a Masterlock combination is one way to get in. I don't know what else to say but I can't stand a thief.............Peace.
