Sort, load , haul forty miles one way to auction and pick up check.
This ain't a buddy deal. It's business.
I'll be keeping the check to apply against his fence bill. But adding back for handling and transporting the cattle.
Good guy with small herd, pitiful excuse for a trailer. And little spare time. Going to eat most of my day....325.00 to much?

Guy's that trade cattle and are at the sales every day haul for cheaper than that. But I can't see why you should.

Going rate here is $3/loaded mile. Plus you’re sorting and loading. And waiting on check. Just say 5 hrs labor at $50/hr. $250 (+) $120 (=) $370. I wouldn’t have a problem charging $400. I think $325 is plenty fair.

lots of varibles, id charge $150 for the 80miles id figure 2 hrs tops so the $150 is good, but do you have to load? and waiting on a check I wouldn't,, I do usps.

I was also thinking $250 but it would not be making you much money. On the other hand it would get you paid some of what he owes you, help the guy out, and you can spend a day at the sale.

I charge $300 to haul but it is drop and go once I see them cross the scales. It is 90 miles one way, I do help sort and load. I do it because I enjoy it and it covers expenses but I sure ain’t getting rich. You will make more fencing in a day but it won’t be as much fun.

$50 hr for mostly unskilled standing around! What do you charge for real work?
I assume you fully support the $15 hr federal minimum wage movement.

$4 loaded mile and $15 hr for the time spent drinking coffee while waiting.
Drive time there and back is covered in the $4 loaded mile.

I can’t stand for more than 30 minutes at a time but I can sit with the best of them.

How many?

Just be careful or you may bring back a trailer full of “opportunity” .... :D

Tomorrow I wouldn't pull in his gate for 350, next week I might work all his cows, and haul his calves a hundred miles for 200 bucks.

Time management, and risk/reward is so uncommon to folks these days.

Two words. Opportunity Cost

Well Fence specifically said that it wasnt a buddy deal. It was business. Y’all can work cheap if y’all want to. Your time is the most valuable thing you have. I don’t know how much time I have left here but if I’m gonna be broke, I’m gonna be broke while I’m fishing. Light bill, insurance, and groceries ain’t free.

With that being said, I do a lot of work for free. For my friends and family. But not for everyone I know. When you put your hands on something, you need to get paid.

Oh, and I don’t support a minimum wage of any kind. That should be between the employer and employees. Though I don’t have any regular employee on the clock that makes under $16/hr.

We all know how much money there is or isn't in cattle. Basically half the value of one calf just to get them to the sale would be too much for me. I do understand the rational in your calculations but if it were me I believe I would be telling him to find someone willing to do it for less.

How many you buy?

I sold 3 under performers and picked up two 4 year old angus with month old calves at their side. Had to add $150 to the pot.
