Seems to be a movement (gaining in numbers) whose goal is to be 100% green in ten years, to do this all fossil fuels will no longer be produced. Can you imagine the concenquences if this happens. I am starting to be concerned about the future of this Country. Their are those that think this can never happen.Things have happened in my lifetime that I would never have thought would happen. Rural America is losing its strength. :frowns:

Never happen. Relax and enjoy life.

The ones pushing that agenda can’t function without fossil fuel. They don’t want nuclear either. The only thing they seem to grasp is power and money.

I see it happening for folks like myself that don't have the money to fly first class. When there's more greenies than normal folks writing the rules for everyone to follow anything is possible. The SCOTUS is in our favor for the time being.

It is promoted by the fringe sect of the Democratic party. AOC is the main mouthpiece. Nancy Pelosi does not agree with it, and she's the queen bee. What she says goes within the party. The reality is that we do need to do something. There's 6+BILLION people on the planet. We're over fishing certain types of fish. We're removing farm land at a crazy pace. We have cars, trucks, planes idling all the time, pumping crap into the air. We use chemicals that we know are harmful for any type of ingestion. It's about common sense. The worst part is that I would bet the bulk of it is related to cities, yet cow farts get blamed all the time.

Haven't ya heard?
Flying is on the taboo list. They gonna park all them aeroplanes somewhere, rip up the runways and taxiways and turn them into flower gardens.
As soon as they figure out how, wheat flour will be banned and replaced by almond flour, and cow milk replaced by almond milk.

Culinary luddites.

We just haven’t had a good plague or world war to cull the herd.
Don’t worry about the internal combustion engine we will fail the IQ test again, as we have throughout history.

Their leader Al Gore sure sets a good example of how it'll work. I figure the greenies will come up with another carbon tax that'll be tax deductible. All the while we'll be walking around barefoot.

I always think that song is very fitting when I hear it

I read alot and just recently read Phoenix Rising, by William Johnston. He wrote all the Mountain Man series as well as a ton of other stuff. But this book, and some others, are set more in the "present" and it is weird the way it suggests scenarios that could very well be happening, and ARE happening, today. Jacknife, Invasion USA and others are so realistic about suggesting what can happen with the extremists and them taking over this country... And in Phoenix Rising, it is suggested that the newly elected president is a Muslim, has decided that we are going to go "GREEN" and the military gets totally disbanded, and the Supreme Court and Congress get disbanded and replaced....
AOC is the biggest nutcase I have ever listened to. Rebuild all the houses in 10 years, stop all airplanes.....no fossil fuels. Someone must've dropped her on her head as a baby because she is totally unrealistic.
Yes we can do better, and should. But they just don't get that SOMEONE has to pay for all the "freebies"....

Yet commodity prices barely justify production, and without subsidies, won’t sustain production. Why is this?
(I’m agreeing, not disagreeing)

And I won’t even comment on the cow farts vs emissions from transportation sources and industrial equipment, except to say I don’t know how these folks could even begin to think cow farts are the problem.

Bestoutwest is spot on. This is media churning news. It will not happen, but it does start the discussion. Fossil Fuels are a finite resource and we need to start looking at renewables. I think that we can all agree that regardless of what the President says, coal is dead as an energy source and other fossil fuels will eventually follow (not in my lifetime though). TVA just shut down two coal-fired plants over the objections of Trump.

Not so fast! Not all scientists even believe that oil is a fossil fuel.
There had been an alternative theory for decades. Being my background is organic chemistry, I as well have had problems with the fossil fuel theory.
Honestly I don’t know which one is right. Hydrocarbon crude oil comes in varieties that are water white to the consistency and color of peanut butter.

Regardless of whether it is fossil or not, can we agree that there is a finite supply (excluding of course the synthetic manufactured fuels or bio fuels)? I will defer to you on the definition and classification of oil. You are much more knowledgeable than I on that. My point is, we need to look toward clean renewables for the future.

The running out of energy battlecry isn’t anything new.
