We curently run cows that are Limousin and crossed with Brangus and we are breeding them to an Angus bull for our beef consumption and have been doing this for several yrs
Since I have just taken over the management of the cows I was wondering if I should keep going in this direction or if there was something else that I should use as a bull to improve the offspring and raise the future replacement cows as I would like to keep 4 or 5 heifers each yr to add to the herd, so far we have been buying young cows every yr and adding them and selling off a few of the hfr calves
would the way we have been doing it be the best or would keeping a few of our own be better
we have a pretty good supply of these Limousin Brangus cows from a neighbor

Also would you keep using an Angus bull or switch to something different a few people in the area sell hereford bulls also
Thank You
Also with what I have read on here and my latest experience I am thinking about not wanting to birth the hfrs out as I have read that they are more likely to have calving problems so keeping the hfrs probably won't be something I do for now

It helps the cattlemen here if you include your location in your profile. We have posters from all over the world. What works in one place may not work for you.
