Pictured at that time he was a 20 months.

I have what i considered a very good replacement maker, his sire is one of the best female maker in the Beefmaster Breed.

Your Thoughts on what to get to cross breed him to?

To answer the question and not make judgements i would breed him to a set of deep chested, big ribbed black baldies. That is if you care about color. If not, any deep chested, big ribbed English base female will do if you are wanting replacement females. I would avoid Continental breeds personally.

so you'd go out and buy a bunch of cows to try and help overcome your bulls shortcoming.................... BACKWARDS

See I can word this to make sense, if the the back breeding for the bull is top of the line, but the bull does not look good, how will his calves turn out. Will his calves look like him or his backbreeding.

would you take that chance. with what you can actually see... ??

I would not take that chance I was just curious what people thought, I think you would never have a consistent calf crop, some good, some bad, if you keep the heifers you would keep passing that trait on down the line.

Just compare this bull to the bull in your avitar.

Pros of the avitar bull in comparison: longer spined, more level hip, less wastey sheath, more compact head, more bone.

I would encourage you to select for traits that resemble the avitar pic - he's a good representative for the beefmaster breed.

didn't say that was the way to go ... again the question was what kind of cow and I answered the question, just didn't feel it necessary to comment on the bull[/quote]
well it was,, you only encourage, if you dont comment on a potential problem...id be way ahead now myself...

Well I gues my 2 year old picture of him from a cell phone has done him a great injustice, that is why I included his pedigree. Yes he is a Beefmaster, a Embryo calf. He has been breeding 4 different farms in my area. I have been renting him out while I rebuild my herd. Constistant is what he is, very uniform in size, udder, characteristics, and even color. his first year calves averaged over 3 lbs a day on commercials. His lineage goes top and bottum to some of the very best genetics in Beefmasters. BW average 76lbs for bulls and 71 for hiefers. We weaned a group in january with an average of 3.17 per day gain @ 165 days old.

My question was A good Beefmaster what would you breed him to. The bull has no short comings, 42 cm scrotal, fact of the matter is he has been constitantly breeding for 2 years straight. We have been selling his offspring for breeder. Funny thing I keep asking people who see him and get their opinion, nothing ever bad said. If he was so lacking Why in the world would people pay to rent him, answert that Ala?????
Just compare this bull to the bull in your avitar
The Bull in my Avitar is Levi, a very sheathy Bull
Ala then Do not comment, It seams to me that if aint a Simm of Angus cross you seam to bash. If you do not know Beefmasters Breeding then Do not comment. Heck I seen you wear MF135 a new one over his shorties. This post was intended for Beefmasters Breeders and Cross breeders not the Simm Angus water carrier like yourself. :lol2:

Don't worry Thommoos, I think blokes like Alacowman have got a bit of a hide making comments like that from one poor photo, 1/2 front on, facing uphill, head down, in working condition. They would have no idea what sort of bull they are looking at, yet they try and dash your aspirations. I actually thought from what I could see, he was actually a pretty fair bull. I think as suggested he should have kept to the question asked.
I think he would produce very marketable calves with just about anything you put him to, but I would have to say Angus.
Ken
