What size brand ? For calves

About to order a new brand from valley vet.com. Question what size brand for calves ? What size brand for cows ? Thanks.

For weaning aged calves, I like a 3 inch iron. For grown cattle I like a 4 inch iron.

Would 4 be to big for calves ? 3 to small for cows ?

too big, too small.. well.. not REALLY, it's just what looks right on an animal of that size... using too big a brand on a small animal makes it hard to get an even burn though.. Other way around it's just a smaller brand
